The Great Southern Invitational is an annual tournament proudly organised by the Great Southern Badminton Association, bringing together players from across the region in a celebration of sport, community, and competitive spirit.
Launched in 2024, the inaugural event marked a key step in the development of badminton across the Great Southern region, with towns competing in a friendly but spirited showdown. Held for the first time on Saturday, 2nd March 2024, the tournament was designed to foster connection between local clubs and establish a new tradition in the regional sporting calendar.
The 2025 tournament was hosted in Denmark, WA, and took place over two days—Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March. Building on the success of its debut, the second edition expanded the format with three divisions, allowing teams to compete against others of similar skill levels and creating a more balanced and engaging experience for all participants.
With each year, the Great Southern Invitational continues to grow—welcoming more teams, increasing the level of competition, and strengthening connections across the region. With ongoing development and community support, the tournament aims to become a standout event in the regional sporting calendar.
