Upcoming events SAVE THE DATES!
A group photo, once the final round had been completed.
The first Great Southern Tournament was a resounding success with the event running smoothly across the day. Competitors were able to concentrate on playing some extraordinary badminton, due in no small part to an amazing job behind the scenes from a small band of hard-working volunteers.
With so many close games across each of the five round it was obvious from the fierce competition that there was a lot of team pride on the line. Also on display was some amazing sportsmanship, with members of the Manjimup team volunteering to fill in for the Albany Blue team throughout the tournament.
The results of this year's field were split down the middle, with three teams, Denmark, Mount Barker & Albany Blue playing consistently across all 5 rounds. With only a handful of games separated the teams by the final bell. Demark finished with 21 wins, Mount Barker with 22 and Albany Blue with 24.
The top three teams were standouts the entire day, with Bunbury coming in third place with 44 wins, they were pipped by Manjimup with 50 wins. Albany Green were the most consistent with 64 wins, making them the inaugural champions!
