At the end of the tournament – the winner of each division will be determined by the team with the most match points.
Tied Results
In the event of a tie, where multiple teams finish the competition with the highest number of matches, a count back will be used to determine the winning team.
After feedback from 2025, we're trialling two divisions. To balance the competition teams should register in the division that suits the ability of the members of the team.
The divisions are:
Division One - Strong competitive players
Division Two - Competitive social players
The organiser reserves the right to reassign your team to the division that better suits your team's ability.
Feel free to contact the organisers at events@gsbadminton.com.au if you have further questions.
With limited spaces across both divisions register your teams early.
All Divisions
Teams can consist of any combination of Male and Female players.
Teams must register at least four players.
Teams can register one or two additional players.
Teams must rank each player when registering the team.
Players will then play matches according to their rank in the team.
If, due to injury issues, a team member can play up a rank, but not down.
Round Nominations
Teams are responsible for nominating ranked players for each round. Teams with more than four players will have members sitting out the entire round. Matches will be pre-assigned, and each player will represent their team at the rank they have been nominated at during registration.
Disputes and Injuries
Players must comply with the umpire’s decision, umpires can escalate to the tournament director if required. If a player withdraws from a match due to injury, the opposing team will be awarded the point for that match. Injured players can be replaced for any following matches, with every effort being made to ensure the substitute is of a similar rank. Teams registering are responsible for their team members personal insurance, ideally through BAWA membership.
Rio Tinto's generous support has been instrumental in bringing this year’s tournament to life. Events like the Great Southern Invitational simply wouldn’t be possible without the continued commitment of partners like Rio Tinto.
